The barrel lining is made from match-grade 416R stainless steel and is measured to a tolerance of +/- .0001. Both Sporter and Target barrels start at 1.20″ diameter and finish at .920″ and have the same internal steel core. Sporter barrels taper off quickly, therefore being lighter for hunting situations, while Target barrels taper gradually, making them more rigid and ideal for long range target shooting.
